Inter have found their inner flame again, although the team still undoubtedly concedes too many goals.
This is the verdict in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who note that the Nerazzurri are finally playing with the needed intensity although the defensive lapses remain a problem.
Inter’s start to the season was not a good one, with a lack of concentration and intensity on the pitch coupling with poor defensive compactness to see the team lose four out of their opening eight Serie A match.
Against Fiorentina on Saturday evening, the first of these issues looked to have been well and solved.
The Nerazzurri battled for ninety minutes plus stoppage time, and looked switched-on and like a team that believed until the very end.
This was obviously a big positive, but the three goals conceded were equally still a problem.
More than the goals, the sloppy manner in which they were conceded lays bare the issues that this Inter still have to work on despite their improved intensity, in the view of the Corriere.
