Inter are the ones who are owed an apology by Fiorentina rather than the other way around despite the demands of the latter.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who criticize La Viola for their public demands for an apology over the chaotic scenes that erupted at the Stadio Artemio Franchi after Saturday’s Serie A clash.

Tensions boiled over on the pitch, and even moreso in the stands, during and after Inter’s 4-3 Serie A win over Fiorentina on Saturday.

The Viola directors vented their frustration at their Nerazurri counterparts, whilst an Inter fan was also physically assaulted in the stands.

For the Gazzetta, it is therefore vexing that La Viola have issued an official demand for an apology over the incidents from the Nerazzurri.

In the newspaper’s view, it is quite clearly Inter who would be owed an apology for how Fiorentina’s fans and directors conducted themselves.
