Legendary former Inter, Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano believes that defender Milan Skriniar will soon receive a very significant contract extension offer.
Speaking to Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, Cassano explained that as far as the information he’s been given, the Nerazzurri are planning to offer the 27-year-old a new deal that will be difficult to turn down prior to the World Cup break.
Dealing with Skriniar’s contract situation remains one of the outstanding priorities at Inter for the coming weeks.
Given that the Slovakian’s current deal runs out at the end of June 2023, the club will be desperate not to see him finish the season without am extension agreed.
The coming weeks could prove vital in negotiations with Skriniar and his representatives.
According to Cassano, the information within the club is that a major offer will soon be put forward to the defender.
“They’re planning to make a big offer of at least €6 million net per season before the World Cup,” Cassano said.
“That’s what I’ve been told, and I’ve verified it.”
The former forward added that “I think it will be difficult for the player to turn that down.”
Cassano also gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s recent form, stating that “Inter still look like an unfinished team.”
“In Florence I saw 6-7 different matches all played in the same evening.”
He elaborated that “In the first fifteen minutes, Inter were brilliant, then they allowed Fiorentina to have all the ball and they got back into it through a penalty.”
“Dimarco should’ve been sent off as well,” Cassano added of the penalty incident in the first half.
“After Fiorentina made it 2-2, the third match began, Inter were back in control and made it 3-2.”
“With Barella they should’ve been able to kill off the game, but then they conceded another equalizer for 3-3, it was like yet another match.”
“And finally they made it 4-3 in stoppage time, with a Venuti error in positioning,” he noted.
“I was expecting it to go like this,” Cassano said, “a painful match for an Inter team that seem to be recovering, but still concede too many goals and a lot of dangerous situations.”
“Yeah, they took three points, but the performance still didn’t convince me.”
“Clearly results give you confidence, the team are headed in the right direction, even if they’re still not where I expect they should be,” Cassano said of the Nerazzurri.
He then said that “Barella is back to his best, he’s doing everything well and holding down the fort.”
Cassanopredicted that “The turning point will come with the return of Brozovic.”
