Inter are hoping to have clarity regarding the contract situation of Milan Skriniar before the World Cup break.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri are hopeful of having a clear idea of whether the 27-year-old plans to extend his deal before the team disperses for the World Cup, so that they can plan accordingly.

Inter are set to begin contract talks with Skriniar and his representatives very shortly.

The feeling is that qualification for the Champions League knockout stages could be a decisive breakthrough, and so the club will wait until after tomorrow’s group stage clash with Viktoria Plzen to see if it is secured.

In any event, however, it is far from certain that Inter will be able to convince Skriniar on agreeing a new deal.

The Nerazzurri do not want this matter to be uncertain for too long, and could decide to sell the Slovakian in January rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in the summer if he does not extend his contract.

As such, the club want to have things made very clear over the coming few weeks.
