Inter striker Edin Dzeko feels that throughout his career, he has had a strong drive to keep improving.

Speaking in the official matchday program for today’s Champions League group stage clash with Viktoria Plzen, the 36-year-old noted that he’s never wanted to simply become complacent in how far he’s come.

Dzeko joined Inter as a player who already had significant experience in football.

The Bosnian had won the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg and the Premier League with Manchester City before establishing a very strong reputation for himself within Italian football over six seasons with Wolfsburg.

However, the striker did not merely join the Nerazzurri to cruise through a couple of seasons.

Dzeko has continued to remind fans of how important his contributions can be, and has scored numerous important goals for the Nerazzurri already.

The Bosnian still has plenty left in the tank, which will be important as Inter continue to fight on all fronts this season.

“Since I started training, I’ve always had that desire to always give my best, to work on improving myself and never be satisfied,” Dzeko reflected, “these are the characteristics that have brought me this far.”

He recalled that “My father played football and he passed on all his love for the sport to me.”

“My point of reference was the pitch where I trained with my first team, Zeljeznicar, near the Grbavica stadium, even if football has always been a part of my life.”

Dzeko noted that “My parents always told me to keep my feet on the ground and to respect others, if you want to get respect you always have to be the first one to give respect.”
