Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin feels that it would be quite remarkable if Inter are able to agree a new contract with defender Milan Skriniar.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Telelombardia, Biasin gave the view that given the circumstances, it would be a huge achievement for the Nerazzurri to extend the 27-year-old’s deal, and could still be improbable.

Inter are reportedly sitting down with Skriniar and his representatives for the first real round of contract talks today.

Qualification for the Champions League knockout stage has been the decisive signal to begin talks.

Meanwhile, the club are hoping that the captain’s armband could be an incentive for the Slovakian to remain at the club.

Skriniar has a big enticement to leave Inter in the form of the well-known interest of Paris Saint-Germain.

For this reason, Biasin feels that it would be something quite remarkable in modern football if Inter were to be able to keep hold of the defender.

“I still think that, given how things have gone and the kind of offer he has on the table, it would be quite remarkable if Skriniar were to extend,” he said.

The journalist continued that “The chances of him extending would be based on the fact that he remains married to this Inter project, despite the superior offer from PSG, and also the captain’s armband.”
