Ex-Inter striker Nicola Ventola felt that it was crucial for Romelu Lukaku to make an immediate impact after his comeback from injury in midweek.

The Belgium international returned to Inter from Chelsea on loan in the summer, just a year on from leaving in a €115 million deal, and a hugely disappointing second spell in the Premier League, but sustained an injury in August.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Bobo TV Twitch stream, Ventola argued that it was important for Lukaku to get back on the scoresheet and prove himself again, as he marked his return with a goal against Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League on Wednesday.

“For Lukaku it was important to score, now he can recover but he has a long way to go, though it was a good starting point,” Ventola declared.

“Plzen are a team that I have seen very little of in the Champions League, though they offered little.”

The former Bari and Atalanta striker then turned his attention to another injured player at Inter in Marcelo Brozovic, and argued that the Croatia international could have a big impact upon his return to fitness.

“Brozovic adds value to Inter and in my opinion he will improve even more, and I see him as a starter,” Ventola concluded.
