Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio has revealed that he grew up idolising ex-Nerazzurri striker Ronaldo, as well as Napoli legend Diego Armando Maradona.
In an interview published in the club’s pre-match magazine, Matchday Programme, the former Torino full-back gave an insight into his career and his life in the edition published before this evening’s Serie A game against Sampdoria.
“My idol was Ronaldo, Il Fenomeno, he did things that I had never seen before,” D’Ambrosio stated.
“The if I go even further back I would say Diego Armando Maradona.
“I cultivated my passion for football step by step, and now I am doing something that I love.”
D’Ambrosio joined Inter from Torino in January 2014 and has amassed 267 appearances for the Nerazzurri, and so revealed the secrets to his lengthy spell with the 2021 Serie A champions.
“Consistency and determination, and having the right motivation to improve every day, with humility and balance,” D’Ambrosio claimed.
“You must always find balance in moments of celebration and in difficult ones.”
Having played for the Granata, Juve Stabia, and Potenza prior to signing for Inter, and grown up in Naples, the Italian international was asked the most important cities in his life.
However, D’Ambrosio opted for Milan, due to the strong ties his family now had with the city.
“I am linked to important history at Inter.
“Here I have my family, my children were born, I opened a business, and it is my present and my future,” he concluded.
