Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has received praise for his performance in the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win over Sampdoria in Serie A yesterday evening.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the Turkey international was considered the best player on the pitch and received the highest score in their player ratings, as he was awarded a 7.5.
The newspaper argued that he understood his role in midfield expertly and could survey the pitch to great effect, with his presence now considered a guarantee.
Former AC Milan midfielder Calhanoglu provided an assist for Stefan De Vrij in the first half, and played for 83 minutes before being withdrawn for Kristjan Asllani.
Fellow midfielder Nicolo Barella was awarded a 7, as was forward Joaquin Correa and centre-backs De Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni, whilst coach Simone Inzaghi was given the same score.
Goalkeeper Andre Onana and wing-back Denzel Dumfries were given a 6.5 in the ratings, to match midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and striker Lautaro Martinez.
