Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has been given a boost after an injury sustained by wing-back Denzel Dumfries is not thought to be as serious as first feared.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, the Netherlands international was withdrawn from yesterday’s 3-0 win over Sampdoria in Serie A after sustaining an ankle injury in the second half.

However, the former PSV Eindhoven player has only suffered a minor knock and is not expected to be out for any considerable length of time, with next weekend’s Derby d’Italia against Juventus a realistic target.

Dumfries is set to be left behind when Inter travel to Germany to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday as a precautionary measure, with Inzaghi seeing no reason to risk him.

Elsewhere, striker Edin Dzeko is also expected to recover in time to face Juventus after requiring ice treatment when being taken off against Sampdoria, and there is little cause for concern for the Bosnian’s condition.
