Members of Inter’s Curva Nord ultras group could face stadium bans following their behaviour during the second half of Inter’s Serie A win over Sampdoria on Saturday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that there will be action taken following the ultras’ behaviour which included intimidating and forcing regular fans to leave the stands during the match.

Scandalous scenes took place in the Curva Nord stand of the San Siro during the second half of Inter’s Serie A win over Sampdoria.

Members of the Nord ultras group reacted to news that a prominent figure in their ranks, Vittorio Boiocchi, had been shot dead, by deciding to pay tribute to Boiocchi by spontaneously vacating the stands during the match.

However, the ultras did not just leave the stadium themselves, but also forced regular fans to leave the stadium as well.

The reaction by the Italian Ministry of Sport has been swift, condemning the behaviour of the Nord ultras in no uncertain terms.

There will be official action taken in response to the events during Saturday evening’s matches, although it remains to be seen exactly what form this will take.

According to the Gazzetta, stadium bans for some of the ultras who were involved in forcing other fans to leave the stands would be a serious possibility.
