Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is set to undergo medical examinations on Monday to see if he is able to play a role at the World Cup with Belgium, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Belgian forward is still touch and go as to when he will be recovered from injury to play a role for the national team at the World Cup in Qatar this month.

He recently suffered a relapse of his thigh injury and that means that whilst he has been named in the squad by Roberto Martinez, the coach needs to make sure that Lukaku can actually play.

If not, he will be replaced with someone from the standby list. He has the option to replace him up to 24 hours before the first group game.

Lukaku is not expected to be fully fit by December 1 but there is hope from Martinez that it may be sooner.
