Argentine national team head coach Lionel Scaloni is annoyed with how the situation with Inter forward Joaquin Correa missing out on the World Cup through injury as played out.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Albiceleste coach feels that the situation with the 28-year-old’s fitness could have been handled better.

Correa had been called up to Argentina’s 26-player squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

The Nerazzurri forward even played in the Albiceleste’s warm-up friendly against the United Arab Emirates, coming off the bench and scoring for the second half.

However, after the match it was revealed that Correa had suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon.

The injury will be significant enough to rule Correa out of Argentina’s squad for the World Cup, and for his part Scaloni is frustrated that the player had given indications that he would be fit and then ended up injured anyway.
