Legendary former Inter, Napoli, and Lazio forward Goran Pandev is hopeful that current Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi can win the Serie A title.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, Pandev expressed hope for his former Lazio teammate at Inter, and also expressed optimism about the Nerazzurri’s chances in their Champions League round of sixteen tie against Porto.

Inzaghi has accomplished quite a bit already in his time at Inter, but a key element missing from his resume is certainly the Scudetto.

The coach missed out narrowly last season despite winning both the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana in his first campaign in charge.

Meanwhile, this season Inter already have significant ground to make up on league leaders Napoli, although they will have plenty of time in which to try and catch up, whilst the Champions League represents another big opportunity for the coach.

“I had a good time with Simone,” Pandev looked back.

“At Lazio he always wanted to play in tandem with me, he said that only I passed him the ball to score,” the North Macedonian laughed.

“Already in those days he was crazy about football, he knew about all the players and the coaches up to Serie D,” he noted. “It was absurd.”

“I hope he can win the Scudetto with Inter and do well in Europe.”

Of the Nerazzurri’s chances in the Champions League round of sixteen, Pandev said that “I’m convinced that this team can go through against Porto, even if they will be two tough matches. And then, who knows.”
