Real Madrid are interested in trying to sign Inter defender Milan Skriniar in the event that the Nerazzurri are not able to extend his contract.

This according to Spanish news outlet Fichajes.net, via L’Interista, who report that Los Blancos coach Carlo Ancelotti is keen on the 27-year-old and would like to move for him if they are unable to sign RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.

Real are looking to reinforce their defense with a new signing next summer.

Leipzig defender Gvardiol has become the Champions League holders’ priority following his outstanding form at the World Cup in Qatar with Croatia.

However, should they miss out on the 20-year-old, Madrid are closely watching Skriniar’s contract situation at Inter.

Right now, the Nerazzurri are pushing to try and get an agreement wrapped up on a contract extension with the 27-year-old.

However, if Inter are not able to convince Skriniar, then Real would be prepared to move for the Slovakian on a free transfer next summer.
