Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has returned to training with the team following his participation at the World Cup, and is eyeing a start against Napoli next month.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the Belgium international has fully recovered from an injury sustained before the tournament in Qatar and is back from a week off, following his national team’s group stage elimination.

Lukaku will undergo gym work to begin with as he gets back up to speed following his holiday, before joining up with the rest of the group as the week progresses.

The Chelsea loanee worked with a personal trainer during his holiday to maintain his fitness, whilst he will be joined in a physical session today by goalkeeper Andre Onana and forward Joaquin Correa, whilst the rest of the squad have a day off.

From tomorrow, the whole team will return to training together and will be joined by Matteo Darmian following his injury, whilst Danilo D’Ambrosio will continue to train separately as he bids to recover from a muscle strain.

Lukaku is not expected to feature in the friendly against Real Betis on Saturday, but is determined to overcome months of form and fitness issues to return in peak condition when Inter resume their Serie A campaign against Napoli on 4 January.
