Inter have welcomed back defender Matteo Darmian to full training after his recent injury lay-off, as they prepare for the return of Serie A next month.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, the former Manchester United wingback has now fully recovered from a right thigh adductor injury sustained in November, which ruled him out of the final Serie A games of the year, against Bologna and Atalanta respectively.

Darmian joined up with the rest of the squad yesterday to participate in full training and is pushing to be involved in Inter’s upcoming friendly matches, before they welcome league leaders Napoli to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on 4 January.

However, fellow defender Danilo D’Ambrosio is still not ready to participate in training with the rest of the squad and worked individually, with a focus on fitness work as he seeks to overcome an injury of his own.

Darmian joined Inter on an initial loan from Parma in 2020, before making the move permanent the following year, and has represented the Nerazzurri 83 times.
