Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini believes that the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash against Napoli in January will define their season, as they prepare to return to competitive action.

The Italian international impressed during this evening’s 1-1 draw against Real Betis in a friendly, as Simone Inzaghi’s side attempt to maintain their match fitness ahead of the return of Serie A at the turn of the year, following the World Cup break.

Following the final whistle at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, Gagliardini spoke of his satisfaction at playing the full 90 minutes, whilst warned that league leaders Napoli would pose a dangerous threat, in an interview with Inter’s official website.

“I feel good and am getting more minutes under my belt. I’m also working hard in training,” the former Vicenza midfielder declared.

“Napoli are having a great campaign, we’ve lost a few too many points, but there’s the whole second half of the season to recover.

“Surely it will be a very important match that can point us towards our league goals,” he added.

Gagliardini, who is out of contract with the Nerazzurri at the end of the season, joined Inter from Atalanta in 2017 and has made 170 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals.

The 28-year-old has won the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia with Inter, as well as helping the Biscione reach the Europa League final in 2020.
