Atalanta will demand €40 million for defender Giorgio Scalvini and Inter are weighing up the prospect of parting with young midfielder Giovanni Fabbian to lower the cost.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Bergamo club are not willing to let teenage centre-back Scalvini leave cheaply, and are ready to hold out for a large sum from Inter or any other interested party.

This is beyond Inter’s financial capabilities and whilst the Biscione are reluctant to lose the highly-rated Fabbian, they would consider offering him to Atalanta in exchange in order to bring the initial fee for Scalvini down.

Fabbian is currently on loan at Serie B promotion challengers Reggina and Inter see him as a potential first team player, but having valued him at €20m, are ready to lose him in order to halve the cost of the Oribici’s defender.

Scalvini, 19, has already made 32 senior appearances for Atalanta and is a full Italy international, having been handed his debut in November and winning three caps for the Azzurri.
