Inter are considering opening up contract renewal talks with Danilo D’Ambrosio in the spring, with the defender keen to remain at the club for a further season.

According to FCInterNews.it, the former Torino player is settled in Milan and would be open to signing on for a further season at reduced wages, as he approaches the final six months of an extension he penned in the summer.

Although he is now 34, D’Ambrosio has impressed Inter’s management with his professionalism and dedication to his fitness, whilst his impact in the dressing room has not gone unnoticed, despite a lack of playing time.

Similarly, D’Ambrosio has performed well when called upon in the team and it would not be seen as a burden to offer him a further season at the club, although there is no guarantee that an agreement would be reached in the spring.

Should this be the case, fellow Serie A club Monza are ready to swoop and offer him a contract should they maintain their top flight status.

However, D’Ambrosio’s priority remains Inter and he is willing to hold on to secure an extension with the Nerazzurri.

Having joined from Torino in January 2014, the defender has made 267 appearances for Inter and won the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia with the club.
