Inter wingback Robin Gosens staked a claim to be involved in the second half of the season after impressing during the 1-1 draw against Real Betis yesterday.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the Germany international showed good attacking intent from the left flank and found positive positions on the pitch, after impressing during Inter’s training camp in Malta earlier in the month.

The former Atalanta wingback had been facing an uncertain future at Inter but is now being viewed as an additional weapon for the second half of the campaign, and could be utilised alongside first choice wingback Federico Dimarco.

Elsewhere, midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan came in for praise after a solid performance playing off lone striker Edin Dzeko, although Inter are hoping that upcoming friendlies against Reggina and Sassuolo will allow Romelu Lukaku to get up to full speed.

Should the Belgian find his form and fitness, his return, alongside that of the previously injured midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, and Gosens, could prove vital for Inter after the winter break.
