Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has marked out Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto as a possible replacement for Samir Handanovic should the captain depart.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri executive is a fan of the Brazilian, who he has marked out as an ideal candidate to back up Andre Onana if Handanovic leaves.

Inter are looking for possible options to take the place of Handanovic should the 38-year-old not extend his contract which runs out at the end of June 2023.

Borussia Monchengladbach’s Yann Sommer would be one option available on a free transfer, as would Boca Juniors keeper Agustin Rossi, although there have been reports that he has a pre-contract agreement with Flamengo.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahce’s Altay Bayindir is on the Nerazzurri’s list, but given that the 24-year-old is aiming to join a club where he would be the starter, he would be unlikely.

Marotta is a fan of Neto from his time at Juventus, where he felt that the Brazilian was a positive influence in the dressing room.

In this respect, the 33-year-old would be an ideal replacement for Handanovic.

The former Fiorentina, Valencia, and Barcelona keeper is currently at Bournemouth, but only on a one-year deal, and could be available on a free transfer next summer.
