Inter would plan to go all-in to sign Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini in the event that Milan Skriniar does not decide to extend his contract past the end of the season.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInter1908, who reported this afternoon that the Nerazzurri would be ready to invest the money that had been put aside for Skriniar’s contract extension in a move for the 19-year-old.

Inter’s priority remains to extend Skriniar’s contract, but no response has yet arrived from the 27-year-old to what is essentially a take-it-or-leave-it offer from the Nerazzurri.

If Skriniar does not extend his deal, then Inter will look to sign as high-quality of a defensive reinforcement as they can, and in this respect Scalvini would become their top target, given his quality for both the immediate future and the long term.

The Atalanta defender would cost €35-40 million, at a conservative estimate, but if Skriniar were to leave on a free transfer then there would be room in the Nerazzurri’s budget to go all-in for the 19-year-old.
