Inter’s pursuit of Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini will be heavily linked with the fate of their contract extension talks with Milan Skriniar.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via L’Interista, who report that the Nerazzurri would be ready to make a move for the 19-year-old, but likely only in the event that they fail to extend Skriniar’s contract.

Scalvini has emerged as one of Inter’s top targets as far as reinforcing their backline goes.

The 19-year-old’s quality and age mean that he is seen as both a reinforcement for the future and player capable of immense growth in his position.

However, Scalvini would be a very ambitious target given the fact that his club would already value him very highly.

Accordingly, if the Nerazzurri are to keep hold of Skriniar by extending the Slovakian’s contract, then a move for Scalvini would be difficult.

If Skriniar does not extend, however, then Inter would be prepared to make an ambitious move for Scalvini.
