Inter striker Romelu Lukaku will have to take 2023 to chase away the demons of a miserable 2022 on the pitch.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, who note that the 29-year-old has had a year to forget but that he could turn it around if he makes a fresh start.

There had been significant expectation when Lukaku returned to Inter on loan from Chelsea at the start of the current season.

However, the Belgian has been restricted to just two starts and three substitute appearances for the Nerazzurri by injury.

If the 29-year-old felt that a return to Inter would turn his fortunes around following a difficult time at Chelsea, he could hardly have been more wrong.

A disappointing World Cup with Belgian, once again marked by lack of fitness and form, capped off a miserable year for Lukaku.

Now, the Belgian’s future looks uncertain, but he will be hoping that he can reestablish certainty, starting with Inter extending his loan, by way of his performances in the coming months.
