Inter have the opportunity to close the gap at the top of the Serie A table by making the most of the fixture list across January.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri can build on Wednesday’s 1-0 win over league leaders Napoli this month to try to push for a Scudetto charge, having moved eight points behind the Partenopei.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have a manageable run-in over the coming weeks, with a fixture against 14th place Monza this evening followed by matches against bottom club Hellas Verona, 12th place Empoli, and second bottom Cremonese.

Inter are also boosted by the difficult fixtures that clubs around them face, with second place AC Milan facing Roma tomorrow, and Lazio next weekend.

Meanwhile, Napoli host Juventus next weekend, before welcoming Roma to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona at the end of the month, and it would not be out of the question to find Inter just four points off the top off the table by the start of February.
