Inter have found reliable options at wingback on both sides of the pitch after Matteo Darmian and Robin Gosens proved themselves this season.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are at their strongest on the flanks thanks to the dominant performances of Federico Dimarco on the left, whilst right wingback Denzel Dumfries is in high demand.

The Netherlands international enjoyed an excellent World Cup campaign in Qatar and has attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, whilst he is described as being a worthy successor to Achraf Hakimi, after his move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.

However, Inter are boosted by being able to call upon such able replacements on both flanks, with Darmian proving himself as a competent player on the right, showing tactical nous and reliability whilst performing well against league leaders Napoli on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Germany international Gosens has been growing in influence and form over recent weeks and finding his first spell of consistency since joining from Atalanta last January.

Indeed, Gosens has rejected any approaches to leave Inter this month, despite interest from clubs in the Bundesliga.

The impact of Dimarco and Dumfries has also been highlighted, with the former the second top scorer in Serie A amongst wingbacks with three goals, whilst the latter has made more touches in the opposition box than any other defender, with 48.
