Barcelona coach Xavi has made clear to his club that he does not want them to go through with a swap deal involving striker Memphis Depay and Inter forward Joaquin Correa.
This according to Spanish journalist Javi Miguel, who reported in a tweet that the Blaugranas coach has made perfectly clear that he does not want to exchange Depay for Correa, despite reports of talks between the clubs regarding a possible exchange.
Depay is a player whose future at the Camp Nou looks to be up in the air.
The Dutchman sees his current contract run out at the end of June, whilst the relative lack of playing time that he has been receiving under Xavi has led to suggestions that he could even push for an exit during the January transfer window.
Barcelona and Inter have been in talks, and reports have emerged that a possible exchange of Depay for Correa has been one of the key themes of their discussions.
However, according to AS journalist Miguel, there is no interest on the part of the Barcelona coach in exchanging the former Lyon and Manchester United player for Correa.
“Xavi has unequivocally told Barcelona no to the idea of an exchange between Memphis Depay and Joaquin Correa,” Miguel tweeted.
