AC Milan captain Davide Calabria is pleased for his friend and longtime national teammate Federico Dimarco’s emergence as a top player at Inter this season.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of the Supercoppa Italiana tomorrow, as reported by FCInterNews, the 26-year-old looked ahead to his prospective battle with Dimarco down the flank, and noted that he and the Nerazzurri wingback have known each other for a long time.
Calabria and Dimarco are players of a similar age, and both of the pair have long been seen as prospects with big potential within the Italian youth setup.
Calabria emerged as a regular starter for the Rossoneri early on, and has since become the club’s captain.
Dimarco, by contrast, developed over a number of loan spells before getting his chance in the Nerazzurri’s first team starting last season.
The 25-year-old has taken his opportunity with both hands, becoming a key player down Inter’s left flank, and for his part Calabria is happy for his friend and national teammate.
“I’ve known Federico or a long time,” Calabria said, “we came up through the Italian youth setup together.”
“I’m very glad to see him in such good form now.”
