Inter defender Milan Skriniar put in a performance that showed exactly why French giants Paris Saint-Germain are so keen on his signature in yesterday evening’s Supercoppa Italiana win over AC Milan.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews, who praise the 27-year-old for a no-nonsense defensive display as the Nerazzurri’s back three held firm against their city rivals’ attack.

Skriniar will have known that he had a tough task on his hands in the form of Rossoneri forward Rafael Leao.

However, the former Sampdoria defender always looked comfortable, not overcommitting or allowing space to the Portuguese.

The performance came amid the backdrop of a transfer saga which has seen PSG try and fail to sign the Slovakian during the summer and Inter push to extend his contract past the end of June amid the continued interest from the Parisians.

In the view of Le Repubblica, Skriniar showed just why PSG are so keen on snapping him up, and why Inter want to stop them at all costs, with his performance against the Rossoneri.
