Milan Mayor Beppe Sala is hoping that the city and Inter and AC Milan can work together and make real progress on the clubs’ new stadium plans.

Speaking to Italian news service ANSA, via FCInter1908, the Milan Mayor emphasized the theme of moving forward together as the clubs look for approval from the City Council to start construction on a new stadium in Milan.

Inter and Milan are hoping that they can satisfy the City Council that they have made the requested changes to their stadium plans.

The Council made the requests in response to the findings of the public debate around the stadium from last autumn, and has indicated that should the clubs adequately modify their plans, then approval to start work will come.

There is still some way to go before this point is to be reached, but as far as Mayor Sala is concerned, the only way to go is forwards.

“I’ll keep quiet about the stadium until [tomorrow] because [today] we’re set to assess the plans and the changes that have been requested by the Council after the public debate,” he said.

“We must first examine them in the Council, then I’ll come to a decision, but there’s nothing new to any of this,” he continued.

“We’re moving forward and will continue to move forward working towards the new stadium,” Sala concluded.

“We must always speak in facts.”
