With Inter readying themselves for the departure of Milan Skriniar, they are hoping to sign Atalanta centre-back Giorgio Scalvini as a replacement.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Skriniar is closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent in the summer, leaving Inter to focus on a deal for Scalvini.

The teenager is keen on a switch to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with initial discussions with his entourage proving to be productive, but Inter are wary of the large transfer fee set to be demanded by Atalanta.

La Dea are not expected to settle for anything less than €40 million, but Inter hope to bring that price down by offering midfield starlet Giovanni Fabbian as part of the deal.

The Reggina loanee is admired by Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini, and this could help Inter negotiate an acceptable price for Scalvini.

Meanwhile, the potential sale of wingback Denzel Dumfries may also provide additional funding for a move for Scalvini, with Inter set to demand €60m for the Netherlands international in the summer.
