Barcelona remain keen to sign Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic and saw an offer to bring him in on loan rejected by the Nerazzurri, according to Spanish media.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club have identified Brozovic as their ideal target to strengthen their midfield and maintain their push for the La Liga title, but are constrained by financial regulations.

The Blaugrana are unable to afford the Croatia international in the current transfer window, but proposed a loan until the end of the season, with an obligatory purchase to be activated in the summer.

Inter have no intention of allowing Brozovic to leave on loan and would only consider parting with him if they received a significant cash offer.

Barcelona had reportedly proposed an exchange that would see former AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie return to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in exchange for Brozovic, but Inter have no desire to agree to this.

The Nerazzurri value the Ivory Coast international lower than Brozovic, and a deal to send him to Spain is thought to be unlikely to be reached this month.
