Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar has not definitively turned down a new contract with the club, despite indicating that he is ready to leave.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere della Sera, Skriniar has turned down a proposal worth more than €6 million per season in order to remain at Inter beyond the expiration of his existing contract in June.
The former Sampdoria defender has been linked with a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, but it reported that there is no verbal agreement is in place for a switch to the Ligue 1 club.
Skriniar appears likely to leave in the summer but is in no rush to make a final decision, and so Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has two options available to him this month.
The less feasible option is to wait and see if Skriniar changes his mind, should he not receive a suitable proposal from elsewhere over the coming months.
This is thought to be extremely unlikely though, as PSG in particular have shown a strong interest in him and seem set on bringing him to Paris.
Alternatively, Marotta will seek to sell Skriniar in the January transfer window and reinvest the funds into a replacement, with Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini the preferred option.
