Goalkeeper Andre Onana and defender Milan Skriniar let Inter down in key moments as the Nerazzurri were condemned to their sixth Serie A defeat of the season against Empoli yesterday evening.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that whilst the pair were far from the only Nerazzurri players below par, their failures came at the worst possible moments.

Keeper Onana has made the first-choice spot in goal his own ahead of Samir Handanovic this season, and few could deny that the Cameroonian’s form has been impressive since he has been entrusted with the starting shirt.

However, the 26-year-old former Ajax keeper needed to do much better than he did on Tommaso Baldanzi’s effort for what turned out to be the game’s only goal against Empoli yesterday evening.

Meanwhile, on a night where he was wearing the captain’s armband despite his now well-known intention to leave the club, Skriniar lost his head to make two unnecessary late tackles which resulted in a sending-off, which proved too big of a setback for his teammates to overcome.
