Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is keen to start negotiations with Chelsea regarding an extension to striker Romelu Lukaku’s loan soon.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInter19o8, who report that the Nerazzurri CEO as well as President Steven Zhang are just waiting for indications that the 29-year-old has put his injury struggles behind him to begin talks with Chelsea.

Lukaku is still only on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the current season.

No decision has yet been made as to whether or not to try and extend the Belgian’s time at the club past the end of his current loan deal, although according to Mediaset, the Nerazzurri’s inclination is towards trying to keep him.

The club are just awaiting a clear signal that the player’s problems with fitness this problem are not long-term, and if such a signal arrives in the form of good performances over the coming matches, they will try and start up talks with Chelsea.

According to Mediast, Marotta and Zhang are both keen to start talks sooner rather than later with the Blues.
