Inter striker Lautaro Martinez will wear the captain’s armband for his team in this weekend’s derby clash with AC Milan in Serie A.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that there is little question that the Argentine will be given the armband for the match now that it has been stripped from defender Milan Skriniar.

The identity of Inter’s captain has been in some flux over the past few months.

Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic remains the club captain, but the Slovenian has been displaced from the starting eleven by Andre Onana.

Therefore, it has been generally left to the most senior player on the pitch to wear the armband in the club captain’s armband.

This has generally been Skriniar, but given that the Slovakian has made clear that he intends to leave at the end of the season, he will not be given the armband going forward until the end of the season.

Martinez has worn the armband on a few occasions already, and according to the Gazzetta, there is little question that the Argentine will do so against Milan on Sunday.
