Bayern Munich are keen to extend the contract of Inter-linked defender Benjamin Pavard, but the player is inclined to leave in the summer.

This according to Spanish news outlet Relevo, via FCInter1908, who report that the 26-year-old had already been keen to join the Nerazzurri in January, but that the Bavarians would not sanction a deal.

Pavard had been one of Inter’s main targets towards the end of last month as they searched for a defender capable of replacing Milan Skriniar should the Slovakian join Paris Saint-Germain before the transfer deadline.

According to Relevo, Bayern did not allow Pavard to join Inter as the German side were aware that this would result in a chain reaction which would see Skriniar join PSG, strengthening their rivals for the Champions League round of sixteen.

However, according to Relevo, the talks between Inter and Pavard reached quite an advanced strategy, as the Frenchman was very intrigued by the idea of joining the Nerazzurri.

According to the Spanish news outlet, Pavard’s priority remains to leave Bayern in the summer, even though the German champions are hoping to extend his contract past the end of June 2024.

Inter are one of the main possible destinations for the World Cup winner, whilst Barcelona are also admirers, Revelo reports.
