Paris Saint-Germain head coach Christophe Galtier feels that the fact that his club were not able to bring in any players amid their pursuit of Inter defender Milan Skriniar last month was not due to any lack of effort.

Speaking in a press conference, via FCInterNews, Galtier explained that as he understands it, the Parisians were very active in trying to reinforce the squad in the January window, even though they were ultimately unsuccessful in their attempts to do so.

PSG were not successful in making any signings during the January transfer window.

The French champions were linked with a couple of high-profile pursuits during the window, however, not least that of Inter defender Skriniar.

The Slovakian looks set to make the switch to the French capital in the summer, but PSG had been reported to be keen to get a deal done even earlier than that, trying to agree a sale with Inter last month.

However, as with their pursuit of Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech, PSG missed out on Skriniar in January.

Galtier reacted to this, noting that “We have not been able to bring in any new signings, but the club their best.”

“I’m not disappointed by it,” the French coach added.

“This is part of football, and I’m happy to work with young players.”
