Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni feels that his only priority for his future at the moment is to stay at the Nerazzurri, where he continued to be happy.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInter1908, the 23-year-old also suggested that if the team can somehow win all of their remaining matches in Serie A, then they would be able to put pressure on Napoli at the top of the table.

Bastoni’s current contract with Inter is set to run out at the end of June 2024, and it remains to be seen whether an agreement will be found between he and the club on an extension.

The former Parma and Atalanta defender has shown his commitment to the Nerazzurri in the past, and for his part still feels that he is happy in an Inter shirt for at least the foreseeable future.

Asked about his future, the Bastoni replied that “I’m happy here, my family and I are doing well, and for now I’m happy here.”

Of Sunday’s win over AC Milan, the 23-year-old said “We knew the importance of the derby.”

“Beyond the three points, it was important to send a message including to ourselves, after we won in Riyadh we couldn’t follow up because we lost to Empoli.”

“Therefore, it was essential to win the derby,” the defender noted.

“Consistency is what we’ve lacked so far this season, and that’s why Napoli have ended up thirteen points ahead.”

“Head to head, we’ve shown that we can play against anyone,” he added.

Of the Serie A title race, Bastoni admitted that “The gap at the top is very big, it would useless to hide that, but we have a great desire to win and from now until the end of the season we’ll try to win all our matches, and then see what Napoli do.”

The defender also spoke about his teammate, striker Romelu Lukaku, stating that “Lukaku had a more serious injury than expected, he had to work hard to get back on the pitch.”

“He can certainly give us a big hand from now on until the rest of the season,” he added of the Belgian.
