Atalanta are ready to increase the wages of young defender Giorgio Scalvini amid major interest from a host of clubs in Italy and around Europe, including Inter.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, who report that La Dea intend to give the 19-year-old wages more commensurate to his performance levels in the hopes that he doesn’t push for an exit in the summer.

Scalvini has attracted interest not just from Italy’s top clubs, but also from the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United.

The Nerazzurri have made the 19-year-old a target to reinforce their defense with Milan Skriniar set to leave and the situations of other defenders up in the air.

It will not be easy to make a deal for Scalvini, however, given the competition from some of Europe’s elite, whilst AC Milan and Juventus already look to be out of the race.

In any event, whilst Atalanta are aware of the growing transfer interest in Scalvini, they hope to potentially keep hold of the defender for another season, possibly even by selling him in the summer but bringing him back on loan for next season.

In order to not have the player push for a transfer, the Lombard club are prepared to increase Scalvini’s wages.
