Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is set to be named in the starting line-up for the visit of Udinese in the Serie A this evening.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the captain will make his return to the Nerazzurri team for the match against his former club at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, after recovering from a recent injury.

The ex-Slovenia international has rarely featured this season, having lost his place in the team to summer signing Andre Onana, and has not played for Inter since being dropped in October.

However, coach Simone Inzaghi will rest Cameroonian Onana ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Porto, allowing Handanovic to return to the team.

The 38-year-old joined Inter from Udinese in 2012 and has made 447 appearances for the club in all competitions, winning the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia.

Elsewhere, Marcelo Brozovic will also return to the team after a lengthy injury absence, whilst Stefan De Vrij will take the place of Francesco Acerbi at centre-back.
