Inter defender Francesco Acerbi feels that, while he is perfectly happy at Inter, it is not his decision whether or not the club will sign him permanently from Lazio at the end of the season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the 35-year-old stressed that whether or not he stays is out of his hands, and also looked ahead to tomorrow evening’s Champions League clash with Porto.

The performances that Acerbi has been putting in this season would suggest that there is a good chance that the Nerazzurri will decide to sign him permanently from Lazio.

However, it would not be quite so straightforward, given that they would still have to negotiate with the Biancocelesti to get a deal done.

For his part, Acerbi would have no problem staying, as he is happy at Inter, but he is now just waiting to see whether the clubs will find an agreement.

“I let my future be discussed by others, that’s always been the case for me,” the former Sassuolo defender said.

“I focus on the pitch, and then whatever happens, happens.”

Acerbi emphasized that “I’m happy here, it’s a fantastic group and I feel great, but my future is a matter for tomorrow.”

“What happens isn’t just up to me, and indeed it isn’t up to me at all.”

Of tomorrow’s match against Porto, Acerbi stated that “We have to be aware of their strengths and also of our own, we have to be balanced in both phases of play.”

“Sometimes we can be too inclined to all try and join in the attack and score goals,” he suggested.

“Sometimes that can be an advantage for us, as it was against Udinese, but sometimes there’s a risk of going behind, as we could’ve been for the chances that Success had.”

“We need to be balanced,” Acerbi emphasized.

“We know it’s a game that will be determined by the details.”
