Inter striker Lautaro Martinez was left unhappy after his side fell to a 1-0 defeat to Bologna in Serie A earlier today, admitting that a lack of consistency was becoming a real issue.

A second half Riccardo Orsolini goal was enough to condemn Inter to defeat at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, as they lost for the seventh time in 24 Serie A matches this season.

In an interview with the club’s inhouse television channel after the final whistle, Inter TV, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, the Argentina international admitted that the Nerazzurri were not showing consistency when facing teams they were expected to overcome.

“Not only in the first half, even in the second, we did not play the game we wanted to play,” Martinez claimed.

“If we want to achieve our goals, we can’t take to the pitch like that. I’m so disappointed with the performance today. We have to change immediately because we’re not going anywhere like this.

“I don’t know why we don’t win these games. That’s why I say that this way we’re not going anywhere, because we have shown quality and that the team is there.

“In important matches we managed to do what we prepared, but today we didn’t, as we didn’t in so many other matches before and in fact we lost so many points. Now we have to recover energy and prepare with a new focus.”

Inter now look to get their campaign back on track when they welcome Lecce to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza next Sunday, and Martinez insisted that it would be vital to win to give the Nerazzurri the best chance of securing Champions League qualification.

“Yes, it will be an important challenge, where we have to take the three points because we need them for the table, to stay there for a Champions League place.

“Today we lost a game that would have left us calmer, but now we have to put our heads down, keep pushing and work together because it’s the only way to move forward,” he added.

The 25-year-old has netted 13 goals in 24 league games for Inter this season.
