Inter striker Romelu Lukaku must prove his worth to the club over the remainder of the season if he is to secure a second loan spell.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are yet to decide on whether to try to bring the Belgium international back to the club on loan from Chelsea next season, after a year in which he has struggled for form and fitness.

Lukaku has only made 15 appearances for Inter this season, after joining on loan last summer just one year on from a record €115 million sale to Chelsea.

Whilst the 29-year-old has impressed with goals against Udinese and Porto over the past week, he has only struck four goals and the Nerazzurri require more evidence of his form returning to him, as well as confirmation that he is past injury problems that have plagued him this term.

Indeed, Inter have already invested almost €20m in Lukaku’s loan fee and wages and so the striker must use the final months of the season to convince the Nerazzurri that he is worth the outlay for a second time.
