Freiburg winter Vincenzo Grifo has revealed that Inter were the club who he supported growing up.
Speaking in an interview published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the 29-year-old also noted that he still regularly follows Serie A despite currently playing in the Bundesliga.
Grifo has spent the entirety of his career playing in the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga, having been born in Germany, but he is of Italian descent and represents the Italian national team.
Over the past couple years, the current Freiburg and former Borussia Moncehngladbach and Hoffenheim man has hit a good patch of form which has seen him appear regularly for the national team.
Grifo spoke about his connection to Italian football ahead of Freiburg’s Europa League round of sixteen tie against Serie A side Juventus, including the fact that he is a childhood fan of the Nerazzurri.
“I was a fan of Inter as a child, it’s true,” the player said, “even though now I’m much less of a ‘fanatic.'”
“I do still keep up with Serie A, though, I follow it regularly on TV.”
