The lack of form shown by both Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko in recent matches could give Inter coach Simone Inzaghi a problem in attack ahead of the team’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg against Porto.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that whilst Lautaro Martinez can give the coach a virtually guaranteed standard of performance, that is not at all the case with the other two strikers.

Martinez has now become just about the first name on the teamsheet for Inter in important matches.

The Argentine once again showed why this is the case with a good overall performance capped off by a well-taken second half goal against Lecce yesterday.

However, his starting partner in attack Dzeko had less of an impact, with the Bosnian former Roma striker extending a goal drought that has now gone on for well over a month.

Meanwhile, Lukaku came off the bench for Martinez during the second half of yesterday’s match.

In truth, the Belgian hardly had an impact in the time that he was given, as had been the case with his start against Bologna last weekend.

For the Gazzetta, Inzaghi will have a tough and delicate decision to make regarding which of the pair starts alongside Martinez against Porto next week, made more difficult by the fact that it may well be the case that neither will be an ideal option.
