Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi believes that Tottenham Hotspur wingback Ivan Perisic has become inclined towards a move back to Inter following a disappointing experience in the Premier League.

Reporting on his YouTube channel, Barzaghi explained that, as with Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi, the 34-year-old has become somewhat disillusioned with his experience since leaving the Nerazzurri.

Perisic decided to leave Inter on a free transfer last summer rather than extending his contract with the Nerazzurri.

The Croat’s decision was to join Tottenham, partially on the basis that he was familiar with Spurs coach Antonio Conte, having worked successfully with the 53-year-old for a season in Serie A.

However, things have not exactly gone according to plan in London for Perisic.

Whilst the former Nerazzurri, Wolfsburg, and Borussia Dortmund man has put in some fine performances, his individual form has not hit the levels of last season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham find themselves with a real battle on their hands to secure a spot in the top four of the Premier League table, and they have already been eliminated from the FA Cup, the League Cup, and now the Champions League following their goalless draw against AC Milan.

Of Perisic, Barzaghi stated that “He would like to return, above all because he expects that Conte will leave at the end of the season, and things could get even more difficult for him.”

“As with Hakimi, he’s confided to former teammates that he’d like to come back,” the journalist continued.

“I don’t think that he expected to struggle so much in the Premier League,” Barzaghi explained.
