Ex-Inter Milan Striker Juergen Klinsmann: “Barella Gives Inter An Unpredictable Element Like Berti Did In My Day”

Former Inter, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bayern Munich striker Juergen Klinsmann feels that current Nerazzurri midfielder Nicolo Barella gives the team a similar spark in midfielder to what Nicola Berti did whilst he was playing.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, Klinsmann compared the current and former Inter midfielders.

Since joining Inter from Cagliari in the summer of 2019, Barella has emerged more and more as a key player in how the team look to play.

Under Simone Inzaghi, the 26-year-old has started to take on a freer role that has seen his influence in the final third grow.

From the perspective of Klinsmann, who played with legendary former midfielder Berti during his time at the Nerazzurri, there is something similar to what the two players bring to the team.

From the German’s perspective, both midfielders have a moment of inspiration in them that can be vital.

“My friend Nicolino [Berti] was the player who made the difference in the 1991 UEFA Cup final against Roma,” Klinsmann noted.

“He gave us the spark, that moment of unpredictability.”

“When you look at Barella, even though he and Berti have different physical profiles, they both give the team that element of unpredictability,” the German added.
