Inter are monitoring the likes of Athletic Club’s Inigo Martinez and Red Bull Salzburg’s Oumar Solet as possible replacements for Milan Skriniar in their defense this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the pair have emerged as two of the main candidates on the Nerazzurri’s shortlist of players to take Skriniar’s place.

Martinez is seen by Inter’s directors as having the ideal profile and style of play to immediately step in and replace Skriniar on the right side of their back three.

The tough-tackling former Real Sociedad defender will be available on a free transfer in the summer when his contract with Athletic Club expires.

The primary obstacle to a deal for Martinez for Inter would come in the form of the 31-year-old having an informal agreement to join Barcelona at the end of the campaign.

However, the Blaugranas’ financial issues and looming problems related to Financial Fair Play could open the door for Inter to swoop in.

Meanwhile, Salzburg defender Solet is another player who the Nerazzurri directors are big fans of, and the 23-year-old Frenchman would likely cost around €15 million.
